The RDV Weekender is one of the highlights of our year, a relaxed, welcoming weekend away for Rainbow Dads and their kids to connect, unwind, and build community.

Whether you’re brand new to RDV or have been coming along for years, the Weekender is designed to be inclusive, family-friendly, and easy to drop into. You don’t need to know anyone to come, many families meet for the first time at this event.

Book by March 1st to secure your spot.

🏕️ What to expect

We’ll be staying together at BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park, a fantastic, family-friendly location with great facilities and plenty of space for kids to play.

Across the weekend you can expect:

• A mix of organised activities and free time

• Activities suitable for all ages, from toddlers to teens

• Shared meals, games, and casual catch-ups

• Space to relax, connect, and do as much or as little as you like

  
  

Some families will stay Friday and Saturday night, while others may opt to stay on for Sunday as well.

👨‍👧‍👦 Families & kids

This is a kids‑first, family‑friendly weekend, designed to make sure children feel welcome, included, and supported — and that parents and carers can relax knowing the weekend is set up with families in mind.

When you book, we’ll ask for:

• how many adults and children are attending

• the names and ages of all children

This information helps us plan age‑appropriate activities, ensure we have the right supervision and support in place, and create a weekend where every child — from toddlers to teens — has something fun, safe, and engaging to enjoy.

🤝 Pitch-in culture

The Weekender works because we all chip in. Nothing heavy or overwhelming, just the usual RDV approach of sharing the load so everyone can still relax and enjoy themselves. When booking, you’ll have the option to indicate if you’re happy to help with things like:

• Helping with a kids’ activity

• BBQs, games, or general support

🏡 Accommodation & bookings

Accommodation is limited and will be allocated based on availability and booking order.

We’re currently collecting bookings so we can:

• Finalise cabin allocations with the park

• Secure accommodation with a group deposit

• Make sure we can accommodate as many families as possible

Full accommodation details, pricing, and conditions are listed with each booking option below.

How booking works

• There are 3 options in the booking choice

  • You pay the full amount for a 2 night stay

  • You pay the full amount for a 3 night stay

  • You pay a non-refundable first night deposit today to secure your accommodation.

    • We will invoice the remaining balance after you book.

• The remaining balance is due by 2 March 2026.

Before you book

• Prices are quoted on 2 adults and all kids per cabin or site.

• Additional adults are $25 per night, and will be added to your second invoice (not the deposit).

• Kids are included within the standard cabin occupancy. If you exceed the included guest numbers for a cabin, any additional charges will be added to the second invoice.

• Pet-friendly options are limited. If you need a pet option, select the pet placeholder ticket and we will follow up to confirm availability.

Accommodation options

We’ve secured a mix of cabins and powered sites at BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park. Room types range from studio style cabins through to larger multi-bedroom cabins, plus powered sites for caravans and tents. Book by March 1st to secure your spot.

You only need to select one - during the booking form, you will be asked how many nights you are staying.

Any conversation will be handled with care, respect, and confidentiality, and we’ll work with you to find a way for your family to be part of the weekend.

Blue Gum Cabin (3 bedroom, sleeps 8) - SOLD OUT

Great for bigger families or a roomy setup. Multiple bedrooms and space for kids to spread out.

Spacious option for larger families wanting a comfortable multi-bedroom cabin.

Banksia Cottage (2 bedroom, sleeps 6) - SOLD OUT

Solid all-round family cabin and a popular option for a typical family setup.

Homestead Cabin (2 bedroom, sleeps 6)

Family cabin option with a straightforward layout and good sleeping capacity.

Check out: 10am / only available for 2 night stays

Wattle Cabin (2 bedroom, sleeps 4)

Best suited to smaller families, with a simple two-bedroom layout.

Check out: 12pm

Matilda Cabin (2 bedroom, sleeps 6)

Comfortable family cabin option with a classic holiday-park layout.

Check out: 10am / only available for 2 night stays

Swagman Cabin (2 bedroom, sleeps 6)

Similar capacity to Matilda, great family-friendly option.

Pet-friendly Cabin (2 bedroom, sleeps 6)

Two-bedroom pet-friendly cabin option for families travelling with a dog.

Note: These are further away from the RDV allocated hang out area, the Great Room.

Powered Site

For caravans or tents. Flexible, simple, and a great budget-friendly option.
